Albany Dept. of General Services, Together with Resources from NYS Dept. of Transportation & Thruway Authority, Continues to Remove Snow Across City

Mayor Sheehan: “Our City’s Department of General Services crews continue to meet the Herculean task of cleaning up after Albany’s 8th largest snow storm in history with skill, dedication, and professionalism.”

Albany, NY – The City of Albany’s Snow Emergency has ended effective 8:00 AM Sunday. Snow Emergency parking restrictions have been lifted, and regular parking rules are in effect.

Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan said, “Our City’s Department of General Services crews continue to meet the Herculean task of cleaning up after Albany’s 8th largest snow storm in history with skill, dedication, and professionalism. This is brutal, exhausting, and often thankless work, however these dedicated public servants show up day after day and deliver service that keeps this City moving in the most dangerous and difficult of circumstances, and I’m so proud of their continued efforts. I would like to again thank Governor Andrew Cuomo, the New York State Department of Transportation, and the New York State Thruway Authority for deploying state assets to assist our crews with snow removal operations inside the City of Albany in response to the largest snow storm since 1993.”

Residents and visitors can expect to see the continued deployment of heavy equipment including front loaders and trucks to physically remove snow from City streets over the next several days. During the course of these operations, City streets may temporarily close to traffic.

Even though the Snow Emergency concluded at 8:00 AM Sunday and regular parking rules are in effect, the City of Albany is asking residents to please ensure their vehicle is parked on the correct side of the street and be aware of any “Emergency No Parking” postings over the next several days to help our DGS crews remove snow safely and efficiently, especially on streets where there was limited move-over compliance during the Snow Emergency.

Through Monday at 6:00 AM, the following additional parking areas continue to be available in the City:
